Exploring the “I” in DISE: Everyone’s An Influencer

On Thursday, April 5, DISE members and guests gathered at D.E.C. on Dragon for the first happy hour event of 2019, sponsored by MVPindex.

Social media has forever changed how we interact with one another personally and professionally. It has also fundamentally changed our relationship with brands. The highest-volume and most-personalized advertising happen over Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube — not traditional TV or print media.

One result of social media has been the democratization of influence and creativity. We can now simply put out content we enjoy making and let people decide what wins and loses with their views, clicks, and likes — we might even make some money, too.

Our panel of local leaders in the space explored this new business framework and opened up a discussion to generate useful insights for anyone interested in this new media paradigm.

The panel was moderated by Jenna Owens, co-host of the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show and founder of The Fitish. Featured on the panel were Reed Duchscher, founder of Night Media; Preston aka PrestonPlayz/TBNRfrags, a digital influencer with more than 16M YouTube subscribers; and Stan Woodward, CEO of social media audience measurement and valuation platform MVPindex.
